Dental Hygiene Graduates Eighth Class With Perfect National Exam Pass Rate

The College of DuPage Dental Hygiene program graduated its eighth class during a recent pinning ceremony, and for the eighth consecutive year, the program also celebrated a 100 percent pass rate for students completing the National Board Dental Hygiene examination.

During the pinning ceremony, several students were recognized for their exceptional performance:

Alinda Kubica-Osikowicz of Bloomingdale received the HuFriedy Golden Scaler Award for the graduate who has most consistently demonstrated exceptional talents and skills.

Anna Ptasznik of Addison received the Nordent Instrumentation Award for the graduate who has demonstrated consistent excellence in instrumentation techniques.

Heather Razim of La Grange Park received the Professionalism and Dedication to Learning Award for the graduate who displayed professionalism toward those around her and has been an inspiration to her classmates through continued perseverance and dedication to advancement and learning.

Evelyn Diaz of Lemont received the Dental Hygiene Department Award for the graduate who, in the opinion of the Dental Hygiene faculty, best represents the ideas of the dental hygiene profession and who will continue to uphold the highest standards of the profession.

Kristofer Ceredon of Bloomingdale received the Community Outreach Award for the student who has demonstrated superior commitment to community outreach efforts for the benefit of the people of DuPage County.

Jessica Popovich of Geneva received the Dental Hygiene Student Peer Award for the graduate who demonstrates the highest degree of professionalism and teamwork, demonstrates exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills, has participated in extracurricular activities that support fellow students, contributes to the on-going Dental Hygiene program improvement, and demonstrates qualities of leadership expected of a practicing oral health care professional.

In addition, the Outstanding Faculty Award went to Dr. Edward Chavez of Wheaton. The award, determined by the program's full-time faculty, goes to a faculty member who brings knowledge and expertise to the clinic and classroom.

The Dental Hygiene Associate in Applied Science degree includes 40 courses with 750 classroom hours and more than 1,000 hours of hands-on training. The program takes two years to complete and is located in the Health and Science Center.
