Lakes’ softball team got its sixth consecutive win Tuesday, defeating host Grant 7-0.
The Eagles were led by the arm of Shannon Cooley, who struck out eight, walked two and allowed just 3 hits.
Offensively, Jasmine Rivera started the game with a home run to left field. Her teammates added to the run parade by providing at least one hit each the rest of the game. Jamie Dykstra tripled, and Megan Milewski, Sara Braden and Megan Massie had doubles.
“The team is really starting to work together and trust each other, and this can be dangerous at this time of the year,” Lakes coach Bill Hamill said.
The win improves Lakes to 12-8-2 and 6-3 in the North Suburban Prairie Division.
Antioch 11, Wauconda 0: The Sequoits were led by powerful bats to improve to 19-7 and 8-1 in the North Suburban Prairie.
Amber Mysliwiec went 2-for-3, including a home run. Katie Keefe doubled twice, Katie Phillips doubled and tripled, and Sage Keyes added a 3-run home run for Antioch.
Olivia Duehr struck out seven through 4 innings.
Lexie Redmann singled twice, and Kennedy Wright also singled for Wauconda.
Carmel 10, Libertyville 4: The Corsairs rung up 16 hits, including 5 doubles, in the nonconference game.
Sally Snarski doubled twice, and Kelley Dodge, Madeline Felipez and Amy Abel added one each.
Nicole Bitter pitched 6 innings for Carmel, striking out four and walking three to get the win.
Lauren Vogg doubled for the Wildcats. Libertyville’s offensive standouts also included Haley Hoeksel, who went 3-for-4, and Danielle Kaczmar who went 2-for-4.
Warren 16, Lake Forest 6: The Blue Devils kicked off the game with 8 hits and never looked back to defeat the Scouts in 5 innings.
Warren’s top hitters included Marcee Olvera, who doubled twice, had 2 RBI and 2 runs scored. Megan Sowa went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored. Allie Schultz added 3 hits and 2 runs scored. Lexi Leneau belted 2 hits and 2 runs scored, and Stephanie Zblewski had 3 RBI and a run scored for Warren (17-10, 6-3 NSC Lake).
Grayslake Central 10, Woodstock North 0: Two must have been the lucky number for the Rams, who scored 7 runs in the second inning. Four players also belted 2 hits apiece.
Caitlyn Flary doubled and had 4 RBI. Katie Brew added 2 hits, 2 runs and 2 RBI, and teammates Rachel Perkowitz and Claire Brennan each added 2 hits and an RBI.
Taylor Janda struck out two and allowed 2 hits for Grayslake Central.
Mundelein 9, Zion-Benton 5: Hillary Bunnelle contributed at the plate and in the circle for the Mustangs, hitting 2 doubles and 2 RBI.
Bunnelle struck out four and allowed 5 runs to get credit for the win.
Justina Doll went 3-for-4 with 2 stolen bases, and Deanna Wise also stole 2 bases.
Alex Hemmer added 2 hits and 4 RBI. Chloe Peterson doubled and had an RBI.
Vernon Hills 21, North Chicago 0: The Cougars shut out the Warhawks in five innings in the North Suburban Prairie game.
