Antioch’s softball team is hitting its stride.
Amber Mysliwiec’s 2-run double in the first inning got things started, and Olivia Duehr pitched 5 perfect innings before being lifted, as the Sequoits defeated visiting Grant 8-2 Tuesday.
Antioch improved to 15-6 and 6-1 in the North Suburban Prairie Division with its sixth win without a loss in the last five days. Mysliwiec finished with 3 RBI, while Kaylene Ressler and Duehr each had 2 RBI. Duehr pitched 5 no-hit innings, facing the minimum 15 batters. She struck out 11, including the sides in the third and fifth.
Nikki Nazario doubled and Vanessa Valadez singled for Grant’s only hits.
Grayslake North 12, Johnsburg 2: Kristina Gandy went 2-for-4 with a 3-run homer and earned the win in the circle, leading the Knights to the Fox Valley Conference win.
Brooke Tracy was 3-for-3 for Grayslake North (10-5, 5-2), which also got offensive contributions from Hailey Badovinac (2-for-4), Nikki Livengood (double, 2 RBI) and Christina Freese (2-for-4).
Prairie Ridge 5, Wauconda 0: Shannon Morehead went 2-for-3 for the Bulldogs (7-9) in their nonconference loss.
Prairie Ridge sophomore Kirsten Stevens pitched a 5-hitter, striking out 12 and walking one.
Mundelein 5, Libertyville 2: Justina Doll and Chloe Peterson both homered and doubled for the Mustangs in the North Suburban Lake Division game.
Hillary Bunnelle earned the win for Mundelein (8-8), scattering just 2 hits in a complete-game effort. She struck out six and walked three, while allowing only 1 earned run.
Vernon Hills 10, Round Lake 0: Megan Meline threw 3 no-hit innings, striking out eight, as the Cougars won the North Suburban Prairie game in 5 innings.
Caitlin Sernett had a triple and double for Vernon Hills. Meline and Anya Mollenhauer each had 2 RBI. Meline stole 2 bases, as well.
Carmel 3, Stevenson 3: The nonconference game went 13 innings before finally being called due to darkness.
Sally Snarski hit a 3-run homer in the top of the first inning for Carmel, but the Corsairs couldn’t push across another run the rest of the game. They received 2 hits apiece from Snarski, Danielle Pullano (double) and Amy Abel.
Stevenson forced extra innings thanks to Emma Patrash’s 2-run double in the seventh.
Ashley Niedermayer and Lara Horwitz each had 3 hits for the Patriots.
