Glenbard North’s Petrosky tosses 2-hitter
Will Petrosky (3-1) fired a 2-hitter with 11 strikeouts as Glenbard North edged West Chicago 1-0 in DuPage Valley Conference baseball action Monday.
Ryan Gallagher drove in the game’s lone run in the fourth inning. Mark Ng had a pair of hits for the Panthers (11-3, 5-0).
Naperville Central 7, Glenbard East 0:Dan Ludwig improved to 5-0 by striking out 13, walking none and scattering 3 hits as the Redhawks (11-5, 6-1) rolled in the DuPage Valley Conference. Conor Philbin went 3-for-4 with 2 doubles, 2 runs scored and 2 RBI. Ross Murphy also had 3 hits. Joe Plimmer went 2-for-3 for Glenbard East (5-10, 2-4). Wheaton North 2, West Aurora 1:The Falcons (8-4, 3-2) scored in the bottom of the seventh to win the DuPage Valley Conference game. Jake Schieber homered and Ed Norris also drove in a run. Winning pitcher Craig Berberich (3-1) went the distance. WW South 7, Naperville North 3:Jeremy Rhoades (3-1) allowed only 2 hits over 6 innings to pick up the DuPage Valley Conference win for the Tigers (8-8, 4-3). Parker Ryndak went 2-for-2 with a pair of RBI. Matt Sturgeon also had 2 hits. Mariano Long drove in 2 runs for Naperville North (5-9, 2-5). Glenbard West 13, Proviso West 3:Tom Alt homered twice and drove in 5 runs for the Hilltoppers (5-12) in their West Suburban Silver Conference win. Tyler Curtis went 2-for-3.Glenbard South 7, Timothy Christian 0:Billy Strohl stayed unbeaten at 4-0 behind a 5-hitter with 8 strikeouts and no walks for the Raiders (8-8, 5-2 Metro Suburban Conference). Zach Bava went 3-for-5 and Doren Blake added 2 hits and an RBI. Wheaton Academy 4, Aurora Central 3:The Warriors (12-5, 6-2 Suburban Christian Gold Conference) scored twice in the top of the fifth inning to pull out the victory. Trevor Swaney went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI and Luke Boggs went 2-for-2 with 2 runs scored. Derek Enger pitched 4 innings for the win and Jake Cousins closed out the final 3 innings to earn the save.York 8, St. Charles North 6:River Pitlock doubled twice and drove in 3 runs for the Dukes (10-6) in their nonconference win. Matt Williams added 2 RBI. Mitch Baker notched the win with 4 innings of work.
