Criminal History Record Information Training Session April 27

“Criminal History Record Information Training Symposium for Non-Criminal Justice Users” will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27, at College of DuPage.

The symposium is sponsored by the Illinois State Police Bureau of Identification in conjunction with the Suburban Law Enforcement Academy at COD. Training topics include the role of the Bureau of Identification, Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act, name-based vs. fingerprint-based inquiries, conviction vs. non-conviction records, how to interpret a rap sheet, new legislation and fiscal procedures.

“This is an important session for users of criminal history record information, and the benefit is the amount of information that is covered during a single workshop,” said Jim Kempinski, SLEA program manager. “After this session, participants will be better equipped to make informed decisions in regards to hiring and licensing child care providers, health care workers and other important staff.”

The fee is $25 and includes a continental breakfast. The symposium will take place in the Jack H. Turner Conference Center, located in the Student Resource Center, Room 2800, on campus in Glen Ellyn.

Registration deadline is Wednesday, April 13. For more information, call (630) 942-2677 or visit: www.cod.edu/slea.
