COD graduate participates in Disney internship program
College of DuPage graduate Liz Koch of Lemont has been selected for the Disney Professional Internships Program.
One of only 20 interns selected for the program, Koch began working in Guest Relations at the Animal Kingdom Resort in February after initially interning through the Disney College Program in 2009, which she found out about through COD.
“The Disney College Program was the most amazing experience. I met people from across the country and world and I got to interact with the people who share the same love of Disney,” the 22-year-old said.
In her current role, Koch assists guests in making reservations for dining and hotels, troubleshooting and helping create an ideal vacation for patrons. The position requires day-to-day interaction with clients and constant professionalism, things she said will help as she pursues a career in public relations.
Add to that the experience she had at COD and Koch said she's confident in her path as she continues on at Governor's State University.
“I initially came to COD intent on majoring in journalism, but switched my major to communications about two years ago. COD has given the opportunity to do this internship and I've been encouraged by faculty to strive for every opportunity,” she said. “My advice to other students is simple. Do an internship. This internship was the best experience of my life and I've learned so many skills that will help me in my career.”
