COD offers grant, budgeting webinars in March

As a Cooperating Collection of the Foundation Center, the COD Library will host two free group webinar sessions in March for College and community members.

Attendees will participate in a live national webinar from the Foundation Center, followed by an opportunity for questions and discussion. In addition, participants will receive information about local resources available to continue learning about the topics discussed.

The following sessions will be held in the COD Library located on the second floor of the east end of the Student Resource Center. Registration is encouraged and it is recommended that these webinars be attended consecutively. To register and for more information, please call (630) 942-3364.

Proposal Writing Basics is scheduled for Thursday, March 17, from noon to 1 p.m. This webinar will cover elements of proposal writing, including how the proposal fits into the overall grantseeking process; what to include in a standard proposal; tips for making each section of a proposal stronger; what funders expect to see in proposals and attachments; tips for communicating with funders during the grant process; and additional resources on proposal writing, including sample proposals.

Proposal Budgeting Basics will take place from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 22. This webinar, geared toward the novice grantseeker, will include information on what to include in the “personnel” section of a proposal budget and how to calculate this figure; the level of detail needed for non-personnel expenses; determining reasonable costs; types of expenses that are considered “overhead”; and other financial documents funders will expect to find in a proposal budget.
