Kidz Kabaret puts on shows March 10-April 17
Youth help with Spring Shows at Kidz Kabaret
Kidz Kabaret has always been about putting kids “center stage,” and allowing the spotlight to shine on the performers. However, kids shine behind the scenes as well and grow from that experience as well.
Five area youth have had the experience to choreograph and assistant direct the Kidz Kabaret spring shows: "Snoopy," "Reluctant Butterfly", and "School House Rock."
All shows are performing between March and April.
“I really enjoy it because it's a great learning experience for me. I love working with kids, and seeing them all perform just brings a smile to my face because I know that I helped them in some way to be a better actor/actress, “ says eighth-grader Connor Payne. “Also, this is what I love to do, and to share that with other people is just great.”
Payne is assisting, along with sophomore Mary Elliott, on the delightful musical, "Snoopy," the story based on the Charles M. Schulz comic strip "Peanuts" and the sequel to “Good Man Charlie Brown.”
Jordyne Pippenger and Patti Mikus have been assisting with Executive Director Kandis Hernandez' original work: "Reluctant Butterly," an original musical about acceptance and adoption.
Maggie Rose Hiltz is helping direct "School House Rock": "I truly love assistant directing and mentoring other kids at Kidz Kabaret because I love watching them grow as actors and actresses. It's a fulfilling experience; Watching their performances, and seeing them have so much fun and putting on a great show-it's what makes it all with it."
Hernandez adds that the opportunities and experience the youth get is invaluable because it teaches them lessons on leadership, organization, empathy, understanding, and patience: “The students give so much to us in terms of support and assistance, but I have heard from Kidz Kab alumni, that they receive so much in return.”
