Libertyville zips past Zee-Bees
Thirteen could have been the lucky number for Libertyville's girls basketball team Tuesday night.
The team scored 13 points in each of the first two quarters to lead Zion-Benton 26-12 and made 13-of-27 free throws to defeat the Zee-Bees 46-38.
Libertyville improved to 20-0 and 9-0 in the North Suburban Lake Division.
Savannah Trees led the Wildcats by scoring 20 points, including three 3-pointers. Olivia Wilcox added nine.
Octavia Crump led the Zee-Bees with 15 points.
Vernon Hills 40, Grant 33: Meri Bennett-Swanson led the Cougars by scoring 21 points in the North Suburban Prairie game.
Bennett-Swanson also grabbed 9 rebounds and had 5 blocks. Abby Springer added 5 rebounds and 3 assists for Vernon Hills (10-10, 6-3), and Julie Pecht had 4 assists and 2 steals.
Grant (7-12, 4-2) was led by Donnie Taggart, who scored 15 points.
Stevenson 80, Lake Forest 17: The Patriots outscored the Scouts 26-5 in the first quarter and dominated until the end shutting out their opponent 21-0 in the final quarter.
Four Patriots scored in double digits, led by Michelle O'Brien who had 24 points, including five 3-pointers. Anna Morrissey added 13 points. McKinley Imus had 12, and Olivia Whalen added 10 for Stevenson (16-7, 7-2).
"This is the third game in a row where we showed a lot of energy. We hadn't done that before those games," Patriots coach Tom Dineen said. "It was a good team effort."
Wauconda 56: Lakes 44: Tammy Ellis scored a season-high 20 points and had 7 steals, as the Bulldogs improved to 18-1 and remain undefeated in the North Suburban Prairie at 9-0.
Melanie Prudhomme added 12. Wauconda also got 8 points from Cara Nance, 7 points from Roslyn Summerville and 7 rebounds from Maggie Sarich.
Lakes' Ashlee Cunningham scored 10 points. Mary Doupis added nine.
Grayslake Central 62, Grayslake North 33: Alex Scarbo scored a season-high 22 points and Claire Brennan added 10 to lead the Rams in the Fox Valley Fox Conference game.
Grayslake Central (19-2, 8-0) has won 17 games in a row.
Grayslake North (6-14) was led by Shyanne Ludwick, who had 10 points.
