Thursday's Fox Valley roundup

Sarah Norman and Annie Kelly each had 4 aces Thursday night to lead St. Edward to a 25-21, 25-13 nonconference girls volleyball win over South Elgin.

Norman added 5 digs and 4 kills for the Green Wave (10-17), while Steph Igielski had 4 kills and Callie Johnson added 3.

Ashley Oandasan and Laura Balance each had 4 kills for South Elgin (6-10-1) and Katelyn Stonecipher had 6 digs.

Jacobs d. Dundee-Crown: Jacobs defeated the Chargers (2-21, 0-8), who were led by 8 digs from Cassie Sommers, 5 digs from Carlin Faulkner and 4 kills by Alexis Holm, 25-16, 25-18 in a Fox Valley Conference Valley Division match. Tess Barnes added 2 aces for Dundee-Crown.

Huntley d. CL South: Sam Boesch had 12 kills and Amy Dion 14 digs to lead Huntley (24-3, 6-2) to a 25-21, 25-21 win over CL South in the FVC Valley. Eli Manning had 13 assists for the Red Raiders.

Cary-Grove d. McHenry: Sam Mainzer had 5 digs and 3 aces and Colleen Smith added 16 assists and 3 aces as Cary-Grove (32-0, 8-0) not only clinched at least a share of the FVC Valley title with a 25-15, 25-7 win, but also won its 49th straight match, now second best in IHSA girls volleyball history. Kelly Lamberti added 4 kills for the Trojans.

Burlington Central d. Marengo: Audi Djukic had 6 kills, 3 aces, 2 blocks and 11 digs and Katelyn O'Reilly added 6 kills, 2 aces, 19 assists and 7 digs as the Rockets (10-16, 5-4) outlasted Marengo 14-25, 25-12, 25-18 in the Big Northern East. Brenda Thasavong (4 kills, 6 blocks), Molly Harrison (9 assists), Sam Bohne (20 digs) and Laura Thompson (3 kills, 2 assists) also contributed for BC.
