Low once again did not allow a goal, making 5 saves in earning his eighth shutout, as Stevenson's boys soccer team defeated Antioch 5-0 Thursday night.
Todd Kovin scored twice for the Patriots (10-5-2), with Ryan Crane and Arturo Hernandez picking up assists. Crane also scored for Stevenson, assisted by Johnny Watrach. The remaining goals were scored by Ben Lund, assisted by Peter Gambino, and Ricky Lahey, assisted by Joey Hugener.
Antioch fell to 15-3-2.
Mundelein 5, Vernon Hills 0: Javier Ramirez scored twice for the Mustangs. Eder Alcanter and Zach Guthrie added unassisted goals. The fifth goal came from Cristian Mata, who was assisted by Saul Figueroa. Matt Iwaniuk earned the shutout for Mundelein (8-7-4). The loss dropped the Cougars to 5-13-1.Lake Zurich 4, Grant 0: Jake Changelon scored twice, on assists from Colin Rathe and Brendan Seeger.Nate Holicky also scored for the Bears, assisted by Seeger. Anthony Pecorini made 10 saves for Grant (9-9).Johnsburg 4, Grayslake North 3 (OT): In a back-and-forth battle, the Knights' first score was made by sophomore Arnaud Laroche-Bataille, who placed a penalty kick in the corner of the net to tie the game 1-1. After Johnsburg scored again in the second half, sophomore Jovany Villa controlled a pass from senior Chris Myers, turned and put a shot into the far corner of the goal. After giving up another goal, Knights junior Daniel Bazan played a nice cross to Villa, who tied the score with a minute left in regulation to force overtime.Johnsburg would win the game with two minutes left in overtime.#8220;We played pretty well but, unfortunately, had too many errors that Johnsburg capitalized on, Knights coach Adam DeCaluwe said.Libertyville 2, Wauconda 0: Jeff Janousek and Marshall Hollingsworth scored for the Wildcats, and Jose Ibarra and Landon Eyre had assists.Andrew Bitta made 4 saves in notching the shutout for Libertyville (15-3-2).
