Grayslake North sees positives in win over PR

Grayslake North boys soccer coach Adam DeCaluwe said he saw a lot of positives from his team in the opening 20 minutes of the Knights' Fox Valley Conference game against visiting Prairie Ridge on Tuesday night.

The home team then finally cashed in on a scoring chance.

Andrew Rohrer finished a rebound chance, off a free kick by Claudio Guerrero, and Mark Lewis added another first-half goal, knocking in a volley after a throw-in by Rohrer, as Grayslake North held on for a 2-1 win.

"We looked good right from the start," DeCaluwe said. "We made sure we brought the right intensity and desire to the game."

Prairie Ridge spoiled the shutout bid of Knights keeper Richard Klarck with less than two minutes left, as Alex Polizzi finished a 25-yard run.

"We really did a good job defensively, making sure that PR did not have too much to build on," DeCaluwe said.
