Kelly Lamberti and Ashley Rosch had 6 kills each and Colleen Smith contributed 14 assists and 6 aces as defending Class 4A state champion Cary-Grove rolled to a 25-11, 25-10 win over Vernon Hills Monday night in the Trojans' season opener.

Melanie Jereb added 10 digs for Cary-Grove, which hosts Johnsburg tonight.

Elgin d. Proviso East: Heather Gawaluck had 10 assists and Bri Borvan registered 5 kills and 2 blocks as Elgin (2-0) won 25-19, 25-19 in nonconference action.

Immaculate Conception d. St. Edward: Alex Lee, Sarah Norman and Enza Ranallo each had 3 kills but St. Edward (0-2) fell to IC 25-21, 25-16 in Suburban Christian crossover action. Annie Kelly had 11 assists for the Green Wave and Katie Ayello added 24 digs.

St. Viator d. Dundee-Crown: Alexa Shemanske had 7 kills and Cassie Sommers added 10 digs for Dundee-Crown in this 22-25, 25-8, 25-12 season-opening loss in nonconference play.
