Mundelein stays hot
The Mundelein boys golf team continued its hot play Saturday, as the Mustangs edged Lake Forest to win the Warren Invitational at Bittersweet.
Led by Eric Nelson's 73 (third) and Sean Forsythe's 74 (fourth), Mundelein shot a 302 to Lake Forest's 303.
Mundelein had defeated Stevenson in a dual two days earlier.
Highland Park (311), Deerfield (312) and Carmel (325) rounded out the top five in the 12-team field.
Lake Forest's Perry Johnson was medalist with a 70, 2 shots better than runner-up Bennett Lavin of Deerfield.
Other top-10 finishers included Mundelein's Grant Heelan (77) and Grayslake North's Matt Bergstrom (77).
Mundelein also received strong rounds from David Krueger (78) and Brett Cigelnik (79).
Adam Glogovsky shot an 82 to lead Warren.
Lakes' Jake Bathely had a team-best 84.
Carmel had one player break 80, as Mike Wilkinson carded a 79.
Grant Invitational: At Antioch Golf Club, Maine West shot a winning 324. Immaculate Conception (345) and Grant (357) finished second and third.
David Bouma (88), Sean Thandupurakal (89) and Mike Carrier (89) led Grant.
Wauconda (364, fourth) received an 86 from Trevor Middleton and an 87 from Matt Liddell.
McHenry Invitational: At Oak Grove in Harvard, Mike Nutter fired a 78 for Lake Zurich (331), which finished fourth among eight teams.
Harlem shot a winning 315, one stroke better than Crystal Lake South.
