Mundelein notches its 20th win of the season

Make it 20 wins for Mundelein's baseball team.

The Mustangs had their hitting shoes on Wednesday, as they beat host Wauconda 12-3 in a North Suburban Conference crossover.

Ben Mahar was the recipient of a 15-hit attack for Mundelein (20-9), as he earned the win.

Libertyville 8, Antioch 3: Brandon Fowkes homered and singled twice, as the Wildcats won the North Suburban crossover for their 20th win.

Tyler Schweigert (triple, double) and Nate Clark (double) also had 3 hits apiece for Libertyville (20-10). A.J. Schurr had a double.

Mikr Whartnaby picked up the win.

Brett Prather doubled for Antioch.

Grant 11, Lake Forest 8: Thomas Gier and Tyler Gorski each hit his fourth home run of the season to help lift the Bulldogs to the North Suburban crossover win.

Jeremy Wiker went 3-for-3 wih 3 RBI for Grant. Gier finished 2-for-3 and also knocked in three runs, while Gorski had a pair of RBI.

Lake Zurich 25, N. Chicago 0: Mike Lutz and Danny Minogue homered for the Bears in the North Suburban crossover.

Mark Dorfman went 2-for-2 with a double and 5 RBI for Lake Zurich (18-15), while Kyle Sanders was 2-for-2 with a triple, double and 2 RBI. Ryan Moncrief went 2-for-3 with a double, 2 runs scored and an RBI.

Vernon Hills 5, Warren 0: Scott Kempel showed why he is the Cougars' ace.

He kept the Warren hitter's off balance all game, as he allowed just 4 hits and struck out six over 6 innings.

Kempel made it into the seventh, but the Blue Devils' Jeff Johnson led off with a double. Kempel then retired the next hitter on a flyout before walking leadoff hitter Tim Bodine after a full count.

Kempel was up in his pitch count so he was lifted for Cesar Gallegos. Gallegos got a strikeout and then a groundball to end the North Suburban crossover.

Vernon Hills welcomed back shortstop Chris Argianas, who had been injured for the last three weeks. He gave Vernon Hills a lift with his glove as well as his bat as he knocked in 2 runs in his first at-bat.

Brian Palmer had 3 hits, including a double, while Zach Kisley contributed 2 hits. Ryan Knopoff and Eric Oberwise both had hits and RBI.
