Behnke homers in St. Francis triumph
St. Francis 12, Marian Central 2: Laura Behnke homered and drove in 3 runs, as the Spartans (22-9, 12-4 Suburban Christian Conference Blue) clinched a share of the Blue division title with Montini. Taylor Ronchetto got the win.
Immaculate Conception 8, Notre Dame 0: Briana Iosco and Danielle Florina combined on a no-hitter for the top seed Knights (22-9) at the Class 2A Lisle regional. Jocelyn Sanchez went 2-for-2 and Erin Dunne and Nicolette Lullo both tripled for IC, who will play the Lisle-St. Edward winner in Friday's final.
Naperville North 2, West Aurora 1: Lauren Clouston scored the winning run on Steph Tobin's slow roller to second with one out in the bottom of the 12th. Clouston had reached on an error leading off and Jess Stapleton walked. Both runners moved up on a sacrifice. Emily Dieckmann (9-8) pitched three innings of scoreless relief for the Huskies (16-13, 7-6 DuPage Valley Conference), who scored the tying run in the sixth.
West Chicago 16, Glenbard East 2: The Wildcats (24-8, 10-3 DVC) pounded out 18 hits to clinch at least a share of the conference title. Mary Connolly (21-6) got the win. Michele Graham went 2-for-3 with 2 doubles and an RBI for Glenbard East (12-18, 2-11).
Glenbard South 5, Sycamore 0: Jess Wilkes (19-2) struck out eight in a 3-hit shutout, and slugged her fourth homer of the season. Jenny Klich went 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored and 2 stolen bases and Jenny Wittenberg had 2 RBI for the Raiders (26-3, 12-0 Western Sun Conference).
St. Charles East 7, Lake Park 5: Beth Carrignan, Rae Ann Payleitner and Kayla Brooks all homered for the Saints (17-14, 11-7 Upstate Eight Conference), who overcame a 4-run deficit to beat the Lancers (24-7, 13-4) in St. Charles.
Wheaton Academy 9, Aurora Central 0: Paige Huizenga tossed a 2-hitter, striking out 6, for the Warriors (12-14, 4-10 Suburban Christian Conference Gold). Huizenga also had 2 hits and 2 RBI, Olivia Tilly went 2-for-3 with a triple and Julia Kolanowski 2-for-3 with a double.
Timothy Christian 5, Latin School 4: The Trojans (11-17)) scored a run in the bottom of the seventh to win their Class 2A regional game.
