Franklin, Mundelein handle Warren
Quite frankly, Colin Franklin dominated.
The senior right-hander pitched a complete-game 2-hitter to lead Mundelein's baseball team to a 6-0 win over visiting Warren on Wednesday.
Franklin struck out nine and walked two, as Mundelein (14-3, 3-2) avenged its Tuesday loss in North Suburban Lake Division play.
Matt Risdon went 3-for-4 to lead the Mustangs' 11-hit attack, while Luis Carrasco (double) and Austin Ozog each were 2-for-3. Chris Langlie also doubled.
Kevin Colburn clocked a double for Warren (15-3, 3-1).
Stevenson 11, Lake Forest 2: Kyle Ruchim went 3-for-4 with 2 doubles for the host Patriots in the North Suburban Lake Division game, and Tyler Radtke struck out 10 in a complete-game performance.
Stevenson (14-1, 5-1) received 2 hits apiece from Pat Wilson (2 doubles, 4 RBI), Erick King (double, triple, 2 RBI) and Alex Daar (2 doubles).
Radtke allowed 5 hits, including a home run to Charlie Gould of the Scouts.
Lakes 9, Wauconda 5: Travis Vanderwall was 2-for-4 with a triple and 2 RBI, and Mark Ortman went 2-for-5, as the visiting Eagles knocked off the Bulldogs for the second straight day in North Suburban Prairie Division action.
Lakes (11-7, 3-1) trailed 4-1 after one inning but pulled even at 5-5 in the fifth on Dave Riedel's pinch-hit, two-out, RBI single.
Nick Hibbing (4-0) went the distance for the Eagles, allowing only 2 earned runs while striking out 12, walking two and yielding 6 hits. He struck out the side in the seventh.
Wauconda (10-8) got doubles from Jeff Jackson, Erik Maki and Tim Matesi. Both Jackson and Matesi were 2-for-3.
Antioch 9, Grayslake North 4: Ryan Dragoon singled and doubled for the Sequoits in their nonconference home game.
Adam Warner and Joe Gregory each had a double and 3 RBI for Antioch (5-8). Chris Terzic allowed 3 runs (2 earned) over 6 innings to earn the win. He struck out five.
Vernon Hills 14, Grant 7: Brian Palmer homered and knocked in 5 runs, as the Cougars avenged their loss from the previous day.
Vernon Hills received 2-for-4 efforts from Palmer, Zach Kisley (double, 4 runs), Scott Kempel (2 doubles, 2 runs, 2 RBI) and Anthony Mazza (double). Eric Oberwise had a double, 3 runs scored and 2 RBI.
Tyler Feece earned the win.
Libertyville 12, Zion-Benton 0: Dar Townsend blanked the host Zee-Bees on 5 hits over 6 innings, striking out six and walking one.
Chad Uhler was 3-for-4 for Libertyville (12-5, 5-1 North Suburban Lake). The Wildcats received 2 hits apiece from Brad Martin (2 doubles), A.J. Schurr (triple), Tyler Schweigert (double) and Nathan Clark (double).
