Brie's sprees bring Grant glee
Brie Brugioni's bat belted 2 balls bye-bye.
Grant's softball team knocked off visiting Vernon Hills 8-1 in a North Suburban Prairie Division game Tuesday, as Brugioni struck out 15 batters to earn the win, while also helping her cause with a pair of home runs.
Grant (7-6, 3-0) got doubles from Rachel DePouw, Amber Smith and Hannah Graham. Brugioni finished 3-for-3, and Smith was 2-for-3.
Vernon Hills fell to 5-11, 1-4.
Lakes 7, Wauconda 6: Jasmine Rivera went 2-for-3 with a walk, and Taylor Dare was 2-for-4 with a triple and 2 RBI, as the Eagles pulled out the North Suburban Prairie Division game.
Shannon Cooley allowed 10 hits but got the win for Lakes (10-6, 2-1).
Michele Meyer had a triple for Wauconda
Warren 6, Mundelein 2: Alex Booker was 3-for-3 with 3 runs scored, an RBI and a stolen base for the host Blue Devils in the North Suburban Lake Division contest.
Abby Anderson went 2-for-3 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI for Warren (11-4, 2-1). Kayla Hurd pitched 5 scoreless innings for the win, striking out seven, allowing 1 hit and walking four. She also singled. Lexi Leneau added an RBI single.
Mundelein fell to 5-8 overall.
Grayslake North 10, McHenry 5: Kristina Gandy went 4-for-5 and Jessica Davis was 2-for-4 for the Knights in the Fox Valley Conference game.
Gandy also earned the win.
Carmel 5, Grayslake Central 0: Eden Warnke got the win in the nonconference game and went 2-for-4 at the plate with 2 doubles and 2 runs scored.
Meg Grady was 3-for-3 with 4 RBI for Carmel (4-9), and Madaline Felipez went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
For Grayslake Central, Tayler Janda and Stacy McAfee had doubles.
Zion-Benton 9, Libertyville 0: Jessica Munda was the winning pitcher in the North Suburban Lake Division game.
Samantha Bone had the only hit for visiting Libertyville (5-8).
