Events that raise money for some type of charity, including galas, golf outings, shopping events, charity auctions, etc. Deadline is two weeks before event date.
Jan. 30

Late Nite Catechism III: Reception at 6:30 p.m., show at 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, St. Joseph Church, 121 E. Maple Ave., Libertyville. Sister will offer up her humorous lessons on marriage and last rites in "Late Nite Catechism III - 'Til Death Do Us Part!" to raise funds for St. Joseph School. Kohl's Step Up for Kids Stair Climb: 8 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 31, Aon Center, 200 E. Randolph St., Chicago. Join 3,000 serious athletes, fitness enthusiasts, family and Children's Memorial supporters as they climb 1,643 stairs at the Aon Center. Registration is $45; ages 12 and under free. Improv challenge: 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5, Warren Township High School Almond Campus cafeteria, 34090 Almond Road, Gurnee. Student improv group "Giggles 'n Bits" will take on faculty team "Adequate Yearly Progress." Tickets will be sold at the door for $3 each. Ticket sales will help raise money for a new light board for theater productions.

Wii Bowling Tournament: Noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, Mundelein Park District Regent Center, 1200 Regent Drive, Mundelein. The Mundelein Park District will hold a Nintendo Wii Bowling tournament and scholarship fundraiser for adults ages 40 and older. Cost is $10 with advance registration ($15 with controller provided). Walk-ins are also welcome. A portion of proceeds from all registrations will go toward the Mundelein Parks Foundation which provides scholarships to area residents for park district programs. National Junior Disability Championships fundraiser: For the entire month of February, Wheeling Auto Center will donate $5 from every oil change and $25 for every referral to NJDC, a national competition for you people with physical disabilities and visual impairments. It Can Be Done: Mondays and Tuesdays, Francesca's Intimo, 293 E Illinois Road, Lake Forest. Francesca's Intimo has agreed to donate 15 percent of patrons' bills to the nonprofit organization It Can Be Done! on Mondays and Tuesdays if the customer mentions the organization to a restaurant employee. The proceeds will benefit the purchasing of a drill to construct wells throughout the 12 villages of Uru on Mount Kilimanjaro, providing the 30,000 people living there with freshwater.
