Stimpson, Grant get past Lakes
Sophomore Kassie Stimpson scored a career-high 16 points, knocking down three 3-pointers, as Grant's girls basketball team pulled out a 33-29 win over host Lakes in North Suburban Prairie Division action Tuesday night.
Heather Chapman added 9 points for Grant (8-8, 3-1).
Lakes (4-10, 0-5) received 8 points from Ashley Parmly, while Asja Triplet had 7 points and 14 rebounds.
"Grant is a good team and has good size and some good outside shooting," Eagles coach Pete Schneider said. "My girls played hard and played some of their best basketball. Unfortunately, we went 1 of 9 from the line in the fourth quarter and 6 of 21 for the game from the line. We're not going to win giving up that many points at the line."
Libertyville 51, Round Lake 15: The Wildcats picked up where they left off, starting the new year with another win.
Champions of Mundelein's Christmas tournament, Libertyville (14-4) won for the eighth straight time.
Alex Haley led the Wildcats with 18 points in the North Suburban crossover, while Nicole Kruckman added 10. Savannah Trees chipped in eight for the hosts, who led 19-2 after one quarter and 27-9 at halftime, before outscoring the Panthers 14-0 in the third.
Chanae Brown scored 8 points for Round Lake (5-11).
Johnsburg 56, Grayslake Central 47: Melissa Dixon and Danielle Slivka scored 23 and 20 points, respectively, for the Skyhawks in the Fox Valley Fox Division showdown.
Grayslake (10-5, 4-1) trailed 11-2 after one quarter and 26-11 at halftime.
Alex Scarbro had 15 points for the Rams, while Rebekah Llorens added 13. Skyler Jessop scored 9 points in the loss.
Grayslake North 50, Crystal Lake Central 47: Kinsey Siler had 22 points, 9 rebounds and 4 steals for the Knights in their Fox Valley Fox Division win.
Lauren Erickson added 10 points and 9 board for Grayslake North (8-8, 2-3).
Vernon Hills 56, North Chicago 36: Alana Coy sank four 3-pointers and scored 21 points for the Cougars in the North Suburban Prairie Division game. essica Feece added 8 points for Vernon Hills (11-5, 6-0).
