Lake Co. sports camps & tryouts

Tryouts and clinics for community sports groups, plus sporting events and tournaments, skate competitions, public appearances by sports stars in the area, autograph signings, sports conventions, etc. Deadline is two weeks before event date.

Dec. 31

Sports Mania: Register by Thursday, Dec 31, for program from 2:15-3:45 p.m. Mondays, Jan. 1 to March 22, Meadowview School, 291 Lexington Lane, Grayslake; Tuesdays, Jan. 12 to March 23, Woodview School, 340 N. Alleghany Road, Grayslake; or Thursdays, Jan. 14 to March 25, Prairieview School, 103 E. Belvidere Road, Hainesville. One or two sports will be played each day, with rules and fundamentals being taught. Sports may include: soccer, basketball, football, softball, volleyball, baseball, kickball, floor hockey, dodgeball, bocce and more. Students will meet in the gym when school is dismissed. Jan. 4

Tennis registration: Registration begins Monday, Jan. 4, for classes beginning the week of Jan. 25, Racquet Club of Lake Bluff, 945 N. Shore Drive, Lake Bluff. The Racquet Club of Lake Bluff is accepting registration for Adult and Youth Session 3 tennis classes. Community Teen Tennis classes are also offered. Participants of Mini-Tennis and Community Teen Tennis classes do not require club membership. To register, call (847) 295-1322.

Feb. 15

Jump Shout Cheerleading: Register by Monday, Feb. 15 for session from 6-7 p.m. Mondays, March 1 to April 12, Gymnastics Factory, 888 E. Belvidere Road, Suite 202, Grayslake. Girls in grades 1-4 will learn to perform floor cheers, sideline cheers, jumps and stunts. Emphasis is placed on fun. Cost is $63 for Grayslake residents, $79 for nonresidents. Nehara Hadassah Couples Bowling League: 8 p.m. on the fourth Saturday of every month beginning in August at Lakeside Lanes, 900 S. Lake, Mundelein. This league goes from August to May with a $25 payment every month per couple. W.C.B.A. Travel Basketball: The World Class Basketball Association runs various travel teams and basketball camps for boys in grades five-high school. The association is currently scheduling evaluations for its 2010 Winter Travel Basketball program, which runs teams out of the Northwest Suburbs.
