Taggart, Grant top Vernon Hills

Grant 43, Vernon Hills 36: At Mundelein, Donnie Taggart scored 18 points for the second day in a row, as the Bulldogs evened their record at 2-2 in the Lady Mustangs Holiday Classic.

Heather Chapman added 12 points for Grant (7-8).

Meri Bennett-Swanson had 13 points for Vernon Hills (10-4, 1-3), which lost its third in a row and fourth in five games.

Mundelein 55, Belvidere 29: At Mundelein, the host Mustangs rebounded from their Tuesday night loss to Huntley by building a 25-12 lead by halftime.

Mundelein (8-8, 2-2) was led in scoring by Jessi Bjerning and Brooke Evans with 10 points apiece.

Wauconda 52, Woodstock 41: At McHenry, Tammy Ellis poured in a season-high 19 points and Erinn Hellweg added 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Bulldogs (9-4), who finished 4-1 in the Northern Illinois Holiday Classic.

Grayslake North 57, North Chicago 54: At Woodstock, Kinsey Siler scored a school-record 27 points for the Knights.

Grayslake North (7-8) finished 3-2 in the Northern Illinois Holiday Classic.

Zion-Benton 59, Streamwood 40: At Mundelein, Juanita Robinson scored 13 points to lead three Zee-Bees in double figures.

Up 39-32 after three quarters, Zion-Benton outscored Streamwood 20-8 in the fourth.

"The beginning of the fourth quarter was fantastic," Zee-Bees assistant coach Frank Mattucci said. "We ran three different defenses of full-court variety. We switched it up and really confused them and finished strong."

Octavia Crump and Helena Rodriguez added 10 points apiece for Zion-Benton (12-3, 3-1).

Round Lake 29, Marian Central 27: At Woodstock North, Chanae Brown sank four free throws in the final minute and finished with a game-high 15 points, as the Panthers snapped a six-game losing streak.

Round Lake improved to 4-10 and finished 1-4 in the Northern Illinois Holiday Classic.

Waukegan 41, Glenbrook North 36: At Mundelein, Syerra Cunningham scored 21 points for the Bulldogs.
