Events that raise money for some type of charity, including galas, golf outings, shopping events, charity auctions, etc. Deadline is two weeks before event date.
Dec. 19
All Creatures Fundraiser: Noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, All Creatures Animal Hospital. 1210 E. Route 22, Lake Zurich. Have pets' pictures taken with Santa. The cost is cat or dog food for the Fremont Township Food Pantry or a $5 donation for the Canine Cancer Campaign.

A Christmas Carol: 7 p.m. Dec. 22, Metropolis Performing Arts Centre, 111 W. Campbell St., Arlington Heights. Performance of "A Christmas Carol" to benefit Clearbrook. Kohl's Step Up for Kids Stair Climb: 8 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 31, Aon Center, 200 E. Randolph St., Chicago. Join 3,000 serious athletes, fitness enthusiasts, family and Children's Memorial supporters as they climb 1,643 stairs at the Aon Center. Registration is $45; ages 12 and under free. Palatine Jaycees Christmas tree sale: 6-9 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays; 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturdays; and 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Sundays through Dec. 20, Aquatic Center parking lot, on Palatine Road, just west of Northwest Highway, behind Walgreens. Variety of fresh-cut, long and short needle trees, wreaths, and garland.
Troop 90 Christmas Tree Sale: 4-9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, through Dec. 23, 472-482 W. Liberty Plaza on Route 176, Wauconda. Boy Scout Troop 90 will hold a Christmas tree sale.
It Can Be Done: Mondays and Tuesdays, Francesca's Intimo, 293 E Illinois Road, Lake Forest. Francesca's Intimo has agreed to donate 15 percent of patrons' bills to the nonprofit organization It Can Be Done! on Mondays and Tuesdays if the customer mentions the organization to a restaurant employee. The proceeds will benefit the purchasing of a drill to construct wells throughout the 12 villages of Uru on Mount Kilimanjaro, providing the 30,000 people living there with freshwater.
