Dec. 14

Gale Gand Does Desserts: 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 14, Patty Turner Senior Center, 375 Elm St., Deerfield. Gale Gand, executive chef and partner of the Five Diamond and four-star Chicago restaurant TRU, will demonstrate one of her dessert creations. $5 for members, $8 for nonmembers. Dec. 15

Tuesday Men's Club: 8:45 a.m. Tuesdays, Patty Turner Senior Center, 375 Elm St., Deerfield. Group meets to hear a variety of speakers and to keep attuned to what is going on in their community. Ladies are always welcome to attend. On Dec. 15, Jim Kendros will present a holiday program; on Dec. 22, John Sanner will discuss Costa Rica; on Dec. 29 there will be no speaker, only coffee and doughnuts.

Potawatomi Life in Northern Illinois: 2-3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18, Wheeling Pavilion Senior Center, 199 N. First St. Debbie Fandrei, museum curator of Buffalo Grove presents the history, stories and artifacts of the Potawatomi Tribe in Illinois. Register at the front desk. $3-$5. (847) 459-2670.

Mt Nesters Hanukkah Celebration: 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20, Beth Judea, Route 83 and Hilltop Road, Long Grove. Caregiver Support Group: 1:30-3:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Warren Township Senior Center, 17801 W. Washington Street, in Gurnee. Free, ongoing support group for caregivers that regularly care for or about a person who is 60 or older, or for those 60 or older who are raising a grandchild.
