Lake Co. sports camps & tryouts

Tryouts and clinics for community sports groups, plus sporting events and tournaments, skate competitions, public appearances by sports stars in the area, autograph signings, sports conventions, etc. Deadline is two weeks before event date.

Dec. 4

Basketball for Charity: 4:15 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, Emmons School gymnasium, 24226 W Beach Grove Road, Antioch. Two grade school basketball games between school rivals will take place. Dec. 6

Buffalo Grove Boys Feeder Basketball tryouts: Noon-4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, Buffalo Grove High School. Tryouts for sixth, seventh and eighth-grade teams. All players must live in the Buffalo Grove High School attendance area. Parents are required to register their son upon drop off. Those selected to play on the 2009-2010 ateams must attend a parent/player meeting from 3-4 p.m. For information, (847) 718-4020.

Dec. 7

Indoor Volleyball Camp: Register by Monday, Dec. 7, for camp from noon to 1:30 p.m. for grades 3-5, 1:30-3:30 p.m. for grades 6-8, and 3:30-5 p.m. for grade 6-8 Spiking Camp, Monday to Wednesday, Dec. 21-23, Grayslake Park District Rec Center, 240 Commerce Drive, Grayslake. Volleyball professionals will concentrate on teaching the fundamentals; all students will receive an EVP Volleyball. $58 for Grayslake residents, $72 for nonresidents for grades 3-5 and Spiking Camp, $66 for residents, $83 for nonresidents for the 1:30 p.m. 6-8 grade camp. Men's Winter Basketball: Register by Monday, Dec. 7; Organizational meeting 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, Grayslake Park District Rec Center, 240 Commerce Drive, Grayslake; games will be played between 2 and 8 p.m. Sundays, Jan. 10 to April 4 (no games Superbowl Sunday) at Grayslake High School and Grayslake Middle School. Teams will play a minimum 10-game season with a season ending tournament. Players must be 18 and over. $645 for team of Grayslake residents, $695 for nonresident teams. Rink Side Sports: Register by Tuesday, Dec. 8, for trip 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, leaving Grayslake Park District Rec Center, 240 Commerce Drive, Grayslake. Travel by park district van to Rink Side Sports in Gurnee for ice skating, Laser Tag and video games. For grades 3-7. Pizza, a beverage and $5 in tokens included. Little Hoopsters Basketball: Register by Saturday, Dec. 26; league will meet Saturdays, Jan. 9 to Feb. 27, Woodview School, 340 N Alleghany Road, Grayslake; or Prairieview School, 103 E. Belvidere Road, Hainesville. Game schedules and rosters will be posted on glpd.com. For children in kindergarten through second grade; children will be separated by age. Nehara Hadassah Couples Bowling League: 8 p.m. on the fourth Saturday of every month beginning in August at Lakeside Lanes, 900 S. Lake, Mundelein. This league goes from August to May with a $25 payment every month per couple.
