Nov. 13
In-House Basketball: Register by Friday, Nov. 13. Boys and girls in grades 3-8 will practice one hour per week starting Monday, Dec. 7, and have games on Saturdays, starting Jan. 9. All interested participants must attend an evaluation on Saturday, Nov. 14 or 21. Registration is required for evaluations. The fee is $125 for Grayslake residents, $156 for nonresidents before Nov. 13, $150 for residents and $187 for nonresidents after. Turkey Trot: Registration at 9 a.m., races a 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, Belvidere Park, Donate two cans of food for a local food bank to register. Races will be held for several age groups, beginning at 7 months. Race lengths range from 5 yards to 1 mile depending on age group. First place finishers in each age group will receive a turkey and first place ribbon. Only Waukegan Park District residents are eligible to win turkeys as race prizes; however, everyone attending the event is eligible to enter into a drawing to win a free turkey. Palatine Turkey Trot: 9 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 26, Harper College, 1200 W. Algonquin Road, front of Building A. Two- or five-mile runs $23-$30. 100-yard Drumstick Dash Fun Run for Kids at 10 a.m. $5 includes T-shirt. Bring a nonperishable food item for the food pantry. Register before Thursday, Nov. 19. Youth Basketball League: South Barrington youth basketball leagues are available for boys and girls in first-eighth grade. Teams will be formed in late fall and games will be played form January through March 2010. All teams are headed by a volunteer coach and all players receive a participation trophy. Nehara Hadassah Couples Bowling League: 8 p.m. on the fourth Saturday of every month beginning in August at Lakeside Lanes, 900 S. Lake, Mundelein. This league goes from August to May with a $25 payment every month per couple.
