Nov. 11

Toy Sale: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, Advocate Condell Medical Center, 801 S. Milwaukee Ave., Libertyville. The Auxiliary of Advocate Condell Medical Center will sell toys, games and books at discounted prices in the main lobby of the hospital. All proceeds benefit Advocate Condell Medical Center. Nov. 12

Hispanic Scholarship Gala: 6-11 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, Milan Banquet Hall, 651 Lakehurst Road, Waukegan. The gala provides funding for college scholarships to minority students of Hispanic descent. For details, call (847) 249-3800.

Children's Memorial shopping event: 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, Ice House Mall, 200 Abbleby St., Barrington. Shop at the Barrington Home Shoppe, Peter Daniel, Savvy Spirit and Tommy-Terri and 20% of the purchase will benefit Northwest Suburban Guild of Children's Memorial Hospital.

Best Seats in Town auction: 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, Cotillion Banquets, 360 S. Creekside Drive, Palatine. Hand decorated park benches, part of the Palatine Area Chamber of Commerce's Best Seat in Town, will be auctioned to support a local charity. Ticket for the auction are $35; $40 at the door. Wheeling High School magazine fundraiser: Saturday, Nov. 14, at the Barnes & Noble Booksellers at Rand and Arlington Heights roads, Arlington Heights. Wheeling High School's literary magazine,"Circus," will host its annual fundraiser. Barnes & Noble will contribute a percentage of every sale made with a special book fair voucher to "Circus." It Can Be Done: Mondays and Tuesdays, Francesca's Intimo, 293 E Illinois Road, Lake Forest. Francesca's Intimo has agreed to donate 15 percent of patrons' bills to the nonprofit organization It Can Be Done! on Mondays and Tuesdays if the customer mentions the organization to a restaurant employee. The proceeds will benefit the purchasing of a drill to construct wells throughout the 12 villages of Uru on Mount Kilimanjaro, providing the 30,000 people living there with freshwater. Fireworks raffle: Through Nov 30. Island Lake residents working along with the village to raise money for 2010 fireworks are holding a raffle through Monday, Nov 30. Each of 10 winners will receive a "Big Boom Bucket" filled with gifts, coupons and services from area businesses. Raffle tickets are $5 each or three for $10. The drawing will be held at Island Lake Village Hall on Dec 10. The winner need not be present. To buy raffle tickets or make a donation, call Pauline Rohrer, at (847) 526-0081.
