Events that raise money for some type of charity, including galas, golf outings, shopping events, charity auctions, etc. Deadline is two weeks before event date.

Nov. 5

Hadassah fundraiser: 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, McCarthy's Irish Pub, Hawthorn Mall, 506 Hawthorn Center, Vernon Hills. The Nehara Group of Hadassah North Shore Chapter will be raising funds for Hadassah projects by guest bar tending. All tips for food and drink will be donated to Hadassah. BACOA luncheon: 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, Makray Memorial Golf Club, 1010 S. Northwest Highway, Barrington. Allendale Boutique: 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5; 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 6; and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, Gorton Community Center, 400 E. Illinois Road, Lake Forest. More than 20 specialty retailers will display goods including men's and women's apparel; gifts; one-of-a-kind jewelry; holiday and home decor; and more. Nov. 6

Lee Stern fundraiser: 8 and 10 p.m., Friday, Nov. 6, Zanies Comedy Night Club, 230 Hawthorn Village Commons, Vernon Hills. Comedian Tommy Johnagain will perform. Funds raised will go to purchase a Ness N200 advanced therapy system to help former ice and in-line hockey player, coach, and referee Lee Stern regain his strength and mobility after a stroke. Tickets are $25 each, and there is a two item food/beverage minimum. A Fabulous Fall Faire: 7-10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, at a Lincolnshire Garden Club member's home. The Lincolnshire Garden Club's 34th annual benefit and auction will feature a raffle, silent and live auction of local goods and services, bake sale, and botanical note cards. Tickets are $25. Footlights Entertainment Extravaganza: 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 6 and 7, Fr. SEDOL Foundation Wine Experience: 6:30-10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, The Ivanhoe Club, 28846 N. Thorngate Drive, Ivanhoe. Attendees will join in a sampling of wines from all over the world, as well as gourmet hors d'oeuvres, a chocolate bar and live music. Tickets are $85 per person; al proceeds will go to provide Lake County special needs children with custom educational programs, vocational resources and social opportunities. For an additional $40 per person, guests may reserve space in The SEDOL Foundation Wine Cellar, a private tasting featuring a special gift, and tastings of rare wines. Vet Fest fundraiser: Noon-6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, Duffy's Sports Pub, 2070 N. Rand Road, Palatine. Fifth annual Vet Fest fundraiser includes silent auctions and raffles. Funds raised will purchase comfort items, T-shirts, underwear, toletries, etc., for vets in VA hospitals.

Grant High School Gala: 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, Maravela's Banquets and Catering, 4 Washington St., Fox Lake. The Grant Community High School Partnership for Academic Excellence will host their annual Gala Dinner/Dance, with live and silent auctions. Proceeds will assist financially needy students, enhance classroom technology and provide scholarships. SRACLC Holiday Tree Festival: 6-10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, White Deer Run Golf Club, 250 W. Gregg's Parkway, Vernon Hills. The Special Recreation Association of Central Lake County's Holiday Tree Festival. The cocktail-attire evening includes holiday trees decorated by professionals for live auction; a silent auction; hors d'oeuvres; open bar; and a dinner buffet. Proceeds go to providing therapeutic recreational programming and opportunities for children and adults with special needs. Tickets are $75 per person. It Can Be Done: Mondays and Tuesdays, Francesca's Intimo, 293 E Illinois Road, Lake Forest. Francesca's Intimo has agreed to donate 15 percent of patrons' bills to the nonprofit organization It Can Be Done! on Mondays and Tuesdays if the customer mentions the organization to a restaurant employee. The proceeds will benefit the purchasing of a drill to construct wells throughout the 12 villages of Uru on Mount Kilimanjaro, providing the 30,000 people living there with freshwater. Fireworks raffle: Through Nov 30. Island Lake residents working along with the village to raise money for 2010 fireworks are holding a raffle through Monday, Nov 30. Each of 10 winners will receive a "Big Boom Bucket" filled with gifts, coupons and services from area businesses. Raffle tickets are $5 each or three for $10. The drawing will be held at Island Lake Village Hall on Dec 10. The winner need not be present. To buy raffle tickets or make a donation, call Pauline Rohrer, at (847) 526-0081.
