Oct. 24
Growing with Grace: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, Grace Lutheran Church, 501 Valley Park Drive, Libertyville. Get an early start on holiday shopping with goods from several vendors; proceeds will go to the "Growing with Grace" children's playground program for new equipment. Dinner and Bake Auction: 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, Federated Church of Wauconda, 200 S. Barrington Road, Wauconda. Annual Fall Dinner and Bake Auction. Chili, cornbread, and ice cream will be served. Howl'oween Howl: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, K-9 Playtime, 403 Washington Blvd., Mundelein. Admission is $5 per dog, $10 for multiple-dog homes to benefit local pet charities. Spooktacular Pancake Breakfast: 8 a.m. to noon, Sunday, Oct. 25, Lake Zurich "Old Firehouse," on Old Rand Road south of Route 22, Lake Zurich. To support the LZ Elite Cheerleaders' effort to raise funds for their national cheer competition. Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for ages 8 and under. Funds raised will go to purchase a Ness N200 advanced therapy system to help former ice and in-line hockey player, coach, and referee Lee Stern regain his strength and mobility after a stroke. It Can Be Done: Mondays and Tuesdays, Francesca's Intimo, 293 E Illinois Road, Lake Forest. Francesca's Intimo has agreed to donate 15 percent of patrons' bills to the nonprofit organization It Can Be Done! on Mondays and Tuesdays if the customer mentions the organization to a restaurant employee. The proceeds will benefit the purchasing of a drill to construct wells throughout the 12 villages of Uru on Mount Kilimanjaro, providing the 30,000 people living there with freshwater. Fireworks raffle: Through Nov 30. Island Lake residents working along with the village to raise money for 2010 fireworks are holding a raffle through Monday, Nov 30. Each of 10 winners will receive a "Big Boom Bucket" filled with gifts, coupons and services from area businesses. Raffle tickets are $5 each or three for $10.
