Oct. 15

Charity Casino Night: Buy tickets before Thursday, Oct. 15, and get $10 off the $20 all-you-can drink wristband. Event is 7 p.m. to midnight Saturday, Nov. 14, Kemper Lakes Golf Club, Hawthorn Woods. Oct. 16

Helping From Heaven: 6:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday, Oct. 16, Allgauer's at the Northbrook Hilton, 2855 Milwaukee Ave., Northbrook. The Lexi Kazian Foundation will host an event to support children with special needs. The evening will include cocktails, and a live auction with items such as a guitar autographed by U2's Bono. Used book sale: Members-only preview sale on Friday, 5-8:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16; open to the public 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, and noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18, Indian Trails Public Library, 355 S. Schoenbeck Road, Wheeling. The Friends of the Indian Trails Public Library District will sell children's and adults books and videotapes, with a $3 per grocery bag sale on Oct. 18. GCHS Cheerleaders fundraiser: 3-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, Mitch's Chicago Style Grill, 116 S. Route 83, Grayslake. A silent auction, raffles and games to raise funds for the Grayslake Central High School Cheerleaders' trip to participate at the Liberty Bowl in January.

Music that Refreshes the Soul: 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, Christ Church, 410 Grand Ave., Waukegan. The concert celebrates ElderCARE's 11 years and over 105,000 volunteer hours of service to homebound elders living in northern Lake County, and will feature the Shiloh Baptist Church Choir, organist Joe Russell and the Christ Church's Choir. Linden Barber Shop's "Classic Car Craze 2" Toys For Tots fundraiser will have over 100 classic cars, trucks and imports judged in 10 classes. The event will include food, a 50/50 raffle for Lake Villa Timberwolves Cheerleading, dealer demos, a Lake County Sheriff K-9 demo, Lake Villa Fire/Rescue And Lindenhurst Police equipment demos, a clown, racing dragsters and more.

Nov. 6

Lee Stern fundraiser: 8 and 10 p.m., Friday, Nov. 6, Zanies Comedy Night Club, 230 Hawthorn Village Commons, Vernon Hills. Comedian Tommy Johnagain will perform. Funds raised will go to purchase a Ness N200 advanced therapy system to help former ice and in-line hockey player, coach, and referee Lee Stern regain his strength and mobility after a stroke. Tickets are $25 each, and there is a two item food/beverage minimum. It Can Be Done: Mondays and Tuesdays, Francesca's Intimo, 293 E Illinois Road, Lake Forest. Francesca's Intimo has agreed to donate 15 percent of patrons' bills to the nonprofit organization It Can Be Done! on Mondays and Tuesdays if the customer mentions the organization to a restaurant employee. The proceeds will benefit the purchasing of a drill to construct wells throughout the 12 villages of Uru on Mount Kilimanjaro, providing the 30,000 people living there with freshwater.
