Tryouts and clinics for community sports groups, plus sporting events and tournaments, skate competitions, public appearances by sports stars in the area, autograph signings, sports conventions, etc. Deadline is two weeks before event date.
Open Badminton: 7-11 p.m. Fridays, Oct. 2 to Dec. 18, Grayslake Park District Rec Center, 240 Commerce Drive, Grayslake. Participants play recreational matches; all levels of players welcome. Wear court shoes and comfortable clothing. Schedule subject to change. For adults 18 and up. The cost reach day is $6 for Grayslake residents, $10 for nonresidents (fee payable at door). MHS Lady Mustangs Tryouts: Noon to 1 p.m. for fifth-graders, 1-2 p.m. for sixth-graders, 2-3 p.m. for seventh-graders and 3-4 p.m. for eighth-graders, Saturday, Oct. 3, Fremont Middle School, 28855 N. Fremont Center Road, Mundelein. MHS Lady Mustangs Basketball Feeder Team will hold tryouts for girls living in the district and planning to attend Mundelein High School. Lady Cats Basketball Clinic: 5:30-6:30 p.m. for grades 7-8, 6:45-7:45 p.m. for grades 5-6, Sunday, Oct. 4, Libertyville High School Field House, 708 W. Park Ave., Libertyville.
