Harper athlete suspended
Harper College has suspended Devonte Duerson, 18, pending the outcome of a felony robbery charge in Justice, a college spokesman said. Duerson, a freshman, was a defensive back who moved to Schaumburg after he was recruited for the football team, spokesman Phil Burdick said. Duerson, who played last year for Proviso East High School, was arrested in February 2008 on an assault charge after an altercation at Hinsdale Central High School, and was arrested in April 2008 in Broadview on a charge of aggravated robbery of a Dollar Store, reports said. Justice police failed to return calls seeking information on his latest arrest.
