Lake Co. sports tryouts & camps

Tryouts and clinics for community sports groups, plus sporting events and tournaments, skate competitions, public appearances by sports stars in the area, autograph signings, sports conventions, etc. Deadline is two weeks before event date.

Sept. 3

Fall Badminton for adults: Registration deadline Thursday, Sept. 3, for program 10 a.m.-11 a.m. or 11 a.m. to noon Thursdays, Sept. 10-Oct. 22, South Barrington gymnasium, 3 Tennis Club Lane. Sept. 4

Patriot Golf Day: Friday through Monday, Sept. 4-7, Steeple Chase Golf Club, 200 N. La Vista Drive, Mundelein. Patriot Golf Day helps raise funds for the Folds of Honor Foundation, a nonprofit corporation that provides postsecondary education scholarships for children and spouses of military service men and women killed or disabled while serving their country. Sept. 5

Sept. 6

Twilight Shuffle: 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 6, starts and ends on Newberry Avenue in Libertyville. MainStreet Libertyville's Twilight Shuffle 5K Run/Walk. Race entry is $40 for ages 18 and up and $25 for ages 9-17. Advance registration is encouraged, but race-day registration will be held from 4-5 p.m. Post-race party at Mickey Finn's Brewery; free admission for every registered racer and children under 12, family members can enter for $10. Registered runners can pick up their racer packets from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 4, or 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, at The Runner's Edge in Libertyville. Golf for 4-H: Check-in at 11:30 a.m., tee time 1 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 16, Antioch Golf Club, 40150 N Route 59, Antioch. 4-H Golf Classic and Dinner, to benefit University of Illinois Extension, Lake County 4-H community clubs and after-school programs. Dinner event includes raffles and 4-H participation; cocktails at 5:30, dinner at 6:30 p.m. Four-person scramble golf tournament is $85 per person, which includes dinner; dinner only is $40.
