Tryouts and clinics for community sports groups, plus sporting events and tournaments, skate competitions, public appearances by sports stars in the area, autograph signings, sports conventions, etc. Deadline is two weeks before event date.

Aug. 13

Baseball 15U and 16U tryouts: 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, Drive Performance, 1543 Abbott Drive, Wheeling. Drive Performance will manage Summer Baseball Teams at the 15- and 16-year-old levels. To register, call (847) 229-1009.

Girls fastpitch softball tryouts: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 15-16, Techny Prairie Parks, 1750 Techny Road, Northbrook. The Illinois Chill fastpitch softball program hold tryouts for its 2009-10 18U Gold, 18U "A" and 16U teams. 5K Rally for Autism: 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, Independence Grove Forest Preserve, 16400 W. Buckley Road, Libertyville. Run or walk to support the with autism as the Autism Society of America. Nehara Hadassah Couples Bowling League: 8 p.m. on the fourth Saturday of every month beginning in August at Lakeside Lanes, 900 S. Lake, Mundelein. This league goes from August to May with a $25 payment every month per couple. Adult Fall Softball Leagues: Times vary, beginning the week of Aug. 26, Alleghany Park and/or the Aquatic Softball Field, Grayslake. Adults 18 and up can sign up to be part of an eight-week softball season. Coed teams will play Fridays and men's teams will play Wednesdays. Jack Rizman Memorial Golf Outing: 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, Buffalo Grove Golf Club, 48 Raupp Boulevard, Buffalo Grove. The Men's Club of Congregation Beth Judea of Long Grove's annual golf outing. There will also be a dinner at 7 p.m. at Lou Malnati's, 85 S. Buffalo Grove Road, Buffalo Grove. Golf and dinner is $95 per person, $85 for golfers under 21; dinner only is $20 for adults and $5 for children. Proceeds will provide Jewish musical concerts and programs for Beth Judea and the local community.
