Baseball: DuPage County roundup

Naperville Central 4, Naperville North 3: The Redhawks (20-11, 14-5) pulled within a game of first place in the DuPage Valley Conference with their nine-inning cross-town win. Bobby Czarnowski's RBI single in the bottom of the ninth won it after Anthony Lopez smacked a game-tying 2-run homer in the bottom of the seventh to cap a 3-run rally in the frame.

Danny Sagen went 4-for-5 and Devon Moon went 3-for-4 for Naperville North (21-7, 14-5). Tim Roetter won in relief for the Redhawks.

Glenbard East 7, Glenbard North 6: The Rams (9-19, 6-13) scored 3 runs in the top of the seventh inning to pull out the DuPage Valley Conference win. Winning pitcher Cody Thompson (5-4), who threw his fourth complete game of the season, singled home Sean Little, who went 3-for-3, with the winning run. Dave Wolak and Steve Cocat each had 2 hits for Glenbard North (11-16, 5-14).

Neuqua Valley 5, St. Charles North 4: Mike Gerber's two-out seventh-inning double keyed a 3-run top of the seventh for the Wildcats (21-9, 15-4) in their come-from-behind Upstate Eight Conference win. Drew Sutton pitched 6 innings for the win while Mike McKinley struck out the side in the seventh to notch the save.

Lake Park 12, South Elgin 11: After allowing 5 runs in the top of the seventh, the Lancers (8-21, 7-15) rallied with 3 runs in the bottom half of the inning to win in the Upstate Eight Conference. A 2-run error provided the tying and winning runs. Jake McNamara went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI while Artie Monaco had 2 hits.

Coal City 12-2, Lisle 8-7: The Lions (12-18, 7-9) seized control with 5 runs in the top of the eighth inning of their Game 2 Interstate Eight Conference game. Alec Blechschmidt's 2-run double broke a 2-2 tie. Nick Thome (2-1) went the distance to earn the win. Jay Osika went 3-for-3.

Hinsdale Central 6, Morton 2: Josh Camalick went 2-for-3 with a triple and 2 RBI for the Red Devils (15-11) in their nonconference win. Matt Anderson had a pair of hits while Robbie Bellusci improved to 3-1 on the mound.
