Lake roundup: LZ rolls past LF

Lake Zurich 15, Lake Forest 1: Lake Zurich rolled up 20 hits en route to the victory.

Paige Goldberg, Ella Aslan, Megan Mattera and Erin Sweeney led the offensive explosion with 3 hits each. Aslan had a double and a triple, Mattera had 2 triples and Sweeney had a triple.

Coryn Schmit added 2 hits (including a double) and drove in 3 runs. Aslan drove in 4 runs.

Meanwhile, pitcher Tabbetha Bohac upped her record to 7-1 by rolling up 9 strikeouts. She also gave up no walks and just 1 hit.

Libertyville 2, Zion-Benton 1: Pitcher Mandy Vogg was busy. She rolled up 6 strikeouts en route to the win. Plus, she also drove in both of Libertyville's runs.

Toni Kintzel and Nicole Kruckman had 2 hits apiece for the Wildcats, who move to 6-18.

Mundelein 11, Stevenson 10: Mundelein survived a Stevenson rally that ended in the seventh inning with runners left on second and third.

The Mustangs got home runs out of Hillary Bunnelle and Justina Doll as well as 3 hits (including a double) from Michelle Mitchem and 2 hits from Kaitlin Yoder.

Bunnelle also was the winning pitcher.

For Stevenson (16-9), Annelise Docel went 4-for-5 while Allison Micucci, Genny Duffy, Emma Patrash and Jordan Willis each had 2 hits. One of Docel's hits was a double.

Warren 3, Glenbrook North 1: Pitcher Kayla Hurd rolled up 10 strikeouts and didn't issue a single walk in four innings to lead the way for Warren, which improves to 12-15.

Teja Bloom drove in 2 runs and had the game-winning for the Blue Devils.

Vernon Hills 18, Antioch 5: Adriana Longobardi blasted a home run and drove in 2 runs to lead Vernon Hills.

The Cougars, who rolled up 18 hits, got 4 hits (including 2 doubles) from Megan Kubacki, 3 hits (including a double) from Emily Evanson and 2 hits apiece out of Jessica Schwartz and Sara Doerhoefer. One of Doerhoefer's hits was a triple.

Vernon Hills moves to 15-4 on the season.

Grant 10, Round Lake 0: Grant rolled up 13 hits en route to the victory.

Freshman pitcher Rachel DePouw got the win for the Bulldogs.

Prairie Ridge 4, Grayslake Central 3: Despite getting home runs from Monika Wedick and Abbie Goetsch and staging a big seventh-inning rally, Grayslake Central took the loss.

The Rams scored all three of their runs in the bottom of the seventh.

Wedick also pitched the game and rolled up 8 strikeouts.
