April 29

31 Cent Scoop Night: Wednesday, April 29, Baskin-Robbins ice cream parlors. Baskin-Robbins will make a donation to the National Volunteer Fire Council; in addition customers at participating locations will be able to buy a small ice cream scoop for 31 cents, and local fire departments will be invited to the event to collect donations. Strong Kids Campaign: 6:45-9:45 p.m. Thursday, April 30, Durty Nellie's in Palatine. Buehler YMCA is holding a charity fundraising event at to help raise money for its Strong Kids Campaign. Features a special guest performance by the band Bucket Number 6.

May 1

Mulch Sale: 4-7 p.m. Friday, May 1, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 2, and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, May 3, west parking lot, Mundelein High School, 1350 W. Hawley St., Mundelein. Mulch-It and Ray Sawvell Jr. will sponsor a mulch sale to benefit the boys and girls basketball programs at MHS. For details, call (847) 363-1258.

Eat at Photo's and present the special coupon through May 1 and the cost of your meal will be donated to the "Ride for Kids" to benefit pediatric brain tumor research. Dog rescue fundraiser: 5-7 p.m. Saturday, May 2, Wauconda High School, 555 North Main St., Wauconda. Fundraiser to help a local rescue center for dogs. The event, held in the cafeteria, will be $15 for adults, $8 for children under 8. All proceeds will go to the Fortunate Pooches and Lab Rescue Center, fortunatelabrescue.org.

Lox boxes: Orders for delivery need to be received by Sunday, May 3. 8-11 a.m. Sunday, May 10, at Congregation Beth Judea, Route 83 and Hilltop Road, Long Grove. The Men's Club of Congregation Beth Judea is selling Lox Boxes for pickup or delivery. A special Mother's Day Brunch can be arranged if ordered in advance. Clearbrook Jelly Belly Days: Volunteers are being sought to work various shifts between 6:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Friday, May 15 and Saturday, May 16, at intersections throughout Chicago and the suburbs during Clearbrook's Jelly Belly Days. It Can Be Done: Mondays and Tuesdays, Francesca's Intimo, 293 E Illinois Road, Lake Forest. Francesca's Intimo has agreed to donate 15 percent of patrons' bills to the nonprofit organization It Can Be Done! on Mondays and Tuesdays if the customer mentions the organization to a restaurant employee. The proceeds will benefit the purchasing of a drill to construct wells throughout the 12 villages of Uru on Mount Kilimanjaro, providing the 30,000 people living there with freshwater.
