Hosford helps rally Grayslake Central

Grayslake Central's baseball team rallied for a victory Friday.

Down 2-1, the Rams rolled up 4 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to pull out a 5-3 win over Woodstock.

Andrew Hosford blasted a home run and a double during the rally, while Mike Gentile added a double. Angelo Gargano and Stefan Falbo also drove in runs.

Pitcher Matt Murphy earned his first varsity win in relief of starter Kevin DeRue. He allowed just 1 run and rolled up 4 strikeouts over the final 2 1/3 innings to help the Rams improve to 9-4.

Wauconda 6, Vernon Hills 3: Pitcher Nick Jay threw a complete game in leading the Bulldogs to a North Suburban Prairie Division victory.

Wauconda got off to a good start with a 2-run home run out of Ted Litberg in the first inning. Drew Hylen followed that up with a 2-run double in the third.

Wauconda (6-4-1) got a total of 2 hits from Litberg and a 2-for-2 performance from Jeff Jackson.

Vernon Hills was led by Matt Peterson and Scott Kempel, each of whom had doubles.

Mundelein 18, Crystal Lake Central 0: A 14-run second inning keyed the victory for Mundelein.

Pitcher Colin Franklin went 4 innings and allowed just 1 hit to help the Mustangs move to 10-2 overall.

Franklin also had a double while teammate Dillon Smith added a triple.

Lake Zurich 13, Fenwick 3: Ricky Erickson got it done on the mound and at the plate for the Bears (10-5-1).

Erickson went the distance (5 innings) and rolled up 6 strikeouts while allowing just 1 walk. Offensively, he blasted a double and finished with 2 hits and 3 RBI.

Austin Cox, Chas Evans and Tanner Witt also tallied 2 hits for the Bears.

Grant 9, Johnsburg 3: After falling behind 3-0 in the first inning, Grant stormed right back and scored 5 runs in the second inning to take the lead for good.

Thomas Gier led the way for the Bulldogs with a 3-for-4 performance at the plate that included 3 RBI and 2 doubles. Grant also got 2 RBI from Nate Lucas and 3 hits from Ryan Thorsen.

On the mound, Grant pitcher Travis Stefanowski rolled up 9 strikeouts.

Lakes sweeps North Chicago: Lakes got a North Suburban Prairie Division sweep over North Chicago, 16-3 and 10-0.

Antioch 13, Round Lake 4: Logan Kent went 3-for-3 with a homer and 3 RBI for the Sequoits in the North Suburban Prairie Division game.

Antioch (4-6, 3-1) also got 3 hits from both Joe Gregory (double, RBI) and Andy Green (RBI). Alex Grimm had a triple and 3 RBI, while Dillon Healy earned the win.

For Round Lake (3-6, 2-2), Jeff Nicoline homered and singled.
