Eastman, Connolly throw no-hitters

Benet senior pitcher Meghan Eastman threw a no-hitter Wednesday in a 3-0 nonconference win over Naperville North. Eastman (5-2) struck out six batters and walked none. "She was very steady, made them put the ball in play," said Benet coach Jerry Schilf. Kelsey Wirth, Claire Geyer and Courtney Makowski each had 2 hits for Benet (6-2). Layne Engel (3-2) took the loss for Naperville North.

West Chicago 8, Oswego East 0: Mary Connolly improved to 7-0 on the season with a nonconference no-hitter in which she struck out 15 and walked one. Connolly and Izzy Bruce each doubled and Chrissie Rovtar hit two doubles for West Chicago (9-1).

St. Francis 2, Montini 0: In Suburban Catholic Conference play, St. Francis' Taylor Ronchetto (6-1) threw a 1-hitter with nine strikeouts and Jenny Eldridge knocked 2 doubles for the Spartans (10-2, 1-0). Lara Mangialardi allowed 7 hits and 1 earned run for Montini.

Downers Grove North 2, Mt. Assisi 1: Lauren Branda's two-out single in the bottom of the ninth scored Jules Burton to beat the nonconference Screeching Eagles. Hallie Niewold (2-0) earned the win in relief of Burton for Downers North (5-3).

Neuqua Valley 4, Streamwood 0: Jenna Marsalli's 3-run home run in the bottom of the first inning was all the offense Neuqua (5-0, 3-0) needed in the Upstate Eight contest. Wildcats pitcher Colleen Hohman (4-0) allowed 3 hits while striking out 15.

Driscoll 2, Rosary 1: Using doubles from Katelynn Conenna and Tarah McShane and a Gina Maritote triple, Driscoll (5-7, 1-0) earned its first Suburban Catholic Conference win. Pitcher BreAunna Medinger threw a 4-hitter.
