Battle of the Bands: 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, Warren Township High School O'Plaine Campus, 500 N. O'Plaine Road, Gurnee. WTHS will host a Battle of the Bands to help raise money for the American Cancer Society. Bands signed up to perform include Unsung Nation, Radio Contact and The Front. Admission is $5 at the door.
Abraham Lincoln - His Life and Legacy: 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, State Bank of the Lakes, 50 Commerce Drive, Grayslake. This family friendly program will focus on Lincoln's personal history and legacy and include Lincoln-era songs. Admission is $5, part of the Grayslake Historical Society's fundraising activities to help finance the new Grayslake Heritage Center.
Viva Las Long Grove: Purchase tickets by Friday, Feb. 13, for event 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, Congregation Beth Judea, 5304 Route 83, Long Grove. An evening of gaming tables, live auction and silent auctions and fun. Appetizers and drinks start at 7 p.m. with gaming tables and poker tournament open at 7:45 p.m. $50 in advance or $60 at the door. Admission includes chips and a Bingo Card. LZHS Orchesis: 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Feb. 13 and 14, Performing Arts Center at Lake Zurich High School, 300 Church St., Lake Zurich. Lake Zurich High School Orchesis Dance Company will present their "New Beginnings" show. Tickets are $8 for adults $6 for students and children, and will be sold at the door; 20 percent of proceeds will be donated to Habitat for Humanity. Valentine's Dance: Bethel Lutheran Church, 3839 W. Frontage Road, Palatine is holding a fundraising Valentine's Dance from 7:30-10:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14. The proceeds will go to improving the Bethel Courtyard and other Bethel Church charitable projects. Live music by Sideman Big Band. Cost is $25 plus one nonperishable food item for the food pantry.
