Dec. 16

Knitters' Night Out: 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Dec. 16 and Jan. 6 and 20, Lake Villa District Library, 1001 E. Grand Ave., Lake Villa. Pot Luck dinner: 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, at a members home in Buffalo Grove. Yahava young women's group of Hadassah North Shore Chapter will have a Pot Luck dinner and gift exchange. Dec. 17

See "The Nutcracker": Bus departs 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17 from the Barrington Park District to see "The Nutcracker" performed at the Noble Horse Theatre in Chicago. Show is performed entirely on live horses. $57 includes lunch, show, transportation. Hosted by the Barrington Area Council on Aging and the Barrington Park District. Highland Park Hadassah: 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, at a member's home in Deerfield. The Highland Park Group of Hadassah North Shore Chapter will hold a meeting. Robert Katzman, author, of "Fighting Words" will give insights into his writings and be available for a question and answer period. A minimum donation of $5 is required. Hannukah Party: 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 18 at a member's home in Northbrook. Glencoe/Northbrook/Winnetka Group of Hadassah North Shore Chapter will hold their annual Hannukah Party. Les Bavards du Nord: 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, at a Buffalo Grove-area restaurant to be announced. Monthly francophone lunch group. Dec. 31

New Year's Eve Celebration: 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, St. Joseph Parish Hall on Lincoln Avenue in Round Lake. There will be a cocktail hour followed by a catered buffet dinner, dancing and entertainment. Tickets cost $30 per person and can be purchased by calling Marshall and Diane Philyaw at (847) 546-1970 through Dec. 28. Tickets will not be sold at the door. Attendance is limited to 250 adults age 21 and older.
