All Aboard: 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 4, Chicago Botanic Garden, 1000 Lake Cook Road, Glencoe. The Woman's Board of the Chicago Horticultural Society will hold their third annual Wonderland Express preview evening, set in and among the Garden's indoor exhibition of garden-scale trains. BACOA, The Garlands of Barrington and Collette Vacations offer this nine-day trip to shop at world-famous Christmas markets in Austria, Germany, Switzerland and France. $2,199. Dec. 6

Holiday in the City: 9:15 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6. Wauconda Area Public Library, 801 N. Main St., Wauconda. Bus trip to the Museum of Science and Industry's Festival of Lights and Tree Display, a shopping excursion at Navy Pier, and a visit to the Winter Wonderland Festival. A five-course prime rib dinner and a tour of the city lights will follow. The cost of $85 covers the bus trip, the dinner, and all the festivities. Registration is required.
