Brumm leads shorthanded Grayslake C. past Maine W.

Grayslake Central's boys basketball team got a win without one of its best players Saturday night.

Mike Brumm scored 21 points, as the the Rams defeated Maine West 57-50 at Mundelein.

Grayslake Central junior forward Andrew Sipes missed the game after injuring his knee the previous night.

Kevin O'Rourke and Josh Rappaport added 14 and 10 points, respectively, for Grayslake Central (2-2), which concludes the tourney Monday at 4:30 p.m. against Carmel.

Sebastian Stasiakiewicz led Maine West with 14 points. Tommy Solis added 12.

Grant 58, Wauconda 43: At Johnsburg, Gilbert Sheehan scored 20 points, as Grant won the third-place game of the Johnsburg/Richmond-Burton tournament.

A.J. Spohr and Shane Richardson added 14 apiece for Grant (3-1, 3-1), which led 23-22 at halftime and then outscored Wauconda 17-10 in the third quarter. Spohr sank a pair of 3-pointers.

Wauconda (2-2, 2-2) was led in scoring by Matt Stonis with 12 points (two 3-pointers). Bradon Prate and Josh Mangioni each had 9.

Vernon Hills 56, Guerin 52: At Northridge Prep, DaVaris Daniels scored 19 points, as the Cougars won for the second time in less than 24 hours.

Riaz Hoveydai (14 points) and Brian Smith (10) also scored in double figures for Vernon Hills.
