Nov. 6
Gurnee Youth Baseball: 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 8, Gurnee American Legion Hall, Grand and Milwaukee avenues, Gurnee. Gurnee Youth Baseball will hold open registration for the 2009 season for ages 6-14 at various levels. South Barrington Park District basketball leagues: The South Barrington Park District is accepting registration for youth basketball leagues for boys and girls in first-sixth grade. Teams will be formed in late fall and games will be played from January-March. Teams are headed by volunteer coaches, and all players will receive a participation trophy. Mustangs Shoot-A-Thon and Fall Festival: 3-9 p.m. Nov. 8, Mundelein High School, 1350 W. Hawley St., Mundelein. High school and junior high players will be shooting 200 shots. There will be contests and prizes including a 50/50 raffle, a pie throwing contest, and a kids vs. parents dodgeball tournament. Pizza and drinks will be available. A Wii game system will be raffled. Baton Twirling: 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, Robert W. Rolek Community Center, 814 Hart Road, Round Lake. Beginners or intermediate twirlers can develop grace, coordination and poise. Each student must provide his or her own baton. Measurements for proper sizing will be taken by the instructor at the first class for those who do not own a proper baton (no toy batons). Race times: 8 a.m.-two-mile run; 9 a.m. five-mile run. There will also be a 100 yard drumstick dash fun run for ages 10 and younger at 10 a.m., cost $5.
