Blood drive: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22 at College of Lake County, Anderson Court, Building A on the Grayslake Campus, 19351 W. Washington St. Donors must be 17 or older, weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good health and not have donated blood within 56 days. Donors will receive a physical that includes a blood pressure check and iron-level count. The blood drive will be conducted on a walk-in basis. Donors should bring a photo ID. Pennies for PADS: Through Saturday, Oct. 25. Peace Lutheran Church of Lake Zurich is coordinating a communitywide project to raise money for Public Action to Deliver Shelter. Collection bottles can be found in churches, businesses and schools throughout the area and people are encouraged to drop in their spare change to help meet the needs of the homeless. Money will be collected throughout October and will be counted on Make a Difference Day, Oct. 25. For information, call the church office, at (847) 438-4400.

Anniversary Food Drive: Monday, Oct. 27, through Saturday, Nov. 1, AmericaUnited Bank & Trust, 485 Lake Str., Antioch, and 36044 N. Brookside Drive, Gurnee. Week long food drive to benefit the Open Arms Mission in Antioch. Those who bring food in on Friday, Oct. 31, and Saturday, Nov. 1, will be treated to coffee, cookies and anniversary cake. Holiday marketplace: Register by Nov. 1 to take part in the sale, which takes place 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, Isaac Fox Elementary School, 395 W. Cuba Road, Lake Zurich. Isaac Fox Elementary School PTO seeks Lake Zurich area businesses to take part in its second annual "Holiday Marketplace." The fee to join is $40. The event supports the school PTO. Allendale Association: A not-for-profit children's facility in Lake Villa, looking for qualified volunteers to work directly with children or on other projects. Help a child develop positive relationships with adults, share gardening knowledge in the vocational horticultural center, evaluate a student's Individual Education Plans and meet with the child's therapeutic team, work in the thrift store, or help in other ways. Exhibitors wanted: The Vernon Area Public Library District is looking for exhibitors for a Health, Wellness and Fitness Expo from noon to 2 p.m. Jan. 25. Local health, fitness and wellness organizations will be at the library to share key factors in leading a healthy life, featuring displays, chair massages, blood pressure checks, health screenings, food samples, a healthy foods cooking demo and an appearance from Chicago Bears official team mascot Staley da Bear.
