BACOA annual wine tasting: 6-9 p.m. Oct. 17, La Strada Ristorante, 2380 Lakewood Blvd., Hoffman Estates. Barrington Area Council on Aging hosts "Aged to Perfection: A Celebration of Life & Wine." End Polio Now: Friday, Oct. 24, at various corners throughout the Lake Zurich area. Members of the Rotary Club of Lake Zurich will participate in the US $100 Million Challenge to End Polio Now by collecting donations. Nov. 7

Mustang Madness: Nov. 7 at Makray Memorial Golf Club in Barrington. Spencer Loomis PTO is hosting its first adult dinner dance fund-raiser to help fund the newly proposed technology initiatives for classrooms along with the other educational enhancements. Current parents and parents of Spencer Loomis alumni are invited to attend. Tickets cost $75 each and include dinner and three hours of open bar, raffles, silent and live auctions, and DJ and dancing. Super Jake Heroes Bash: 7 p.m. to midnight Saturday, Nov. 8 at Hilton Northbrook, 2855 N. Milwaukee Ave. The fourth annual Super Jake and Friends Heroes Bash will benefit the Super Jake Foundation in honor of Jake Widman, who died in 2005 after his battle with neuroblastoma, a form of pediatric cancer. His family formed the non-profit organization to fund and find a cure. Guests are invited to wear their favorite superhero costume in honor of Jake at this event. Entertainment books: The Mundelein Community Women's Club is selling the 2009 Entertainment books. Two for the price of one coupons are offered at local restaurants, Marriott Theatre, Ravinia and discounts at Dominick's, car washes, cleaners and sporting events.
