Lake County Opera Meetup Group: Noon Saturday, Oct. 11, Regal Lincolnshire 20 Theatre, 300 Parkway Drive, Lincolnshire. Opera lovers are invited to join the Lake County Opera Meetup Group to enjoy a high-definition live videocast of the New York Metropolitan Opera in a performance of Strauss' "Salome." Sitzmark Ski Club: 7 p.m. Oct. 15 at El Barrio Restaurant, 1122 Diamond Lake Road, Mundelein. The club will hold its annual open house and newcomers meeting. Watercolor Workshop, Glorious Autumn: Noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, Brushwood at Ryerson Woods, located near Deerfield on Riverwoods road between Half Day Road and Deerfield Road. The instructor will provide demonstrations on watercolor techniques, composition and selecting scenery to paint and draw. A supply list will be provided. Lake County Art League: 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20 at State Bank of the Lakes community room on Commerce and Center streets in Grayslake. Local artist and retired College of Lake County instructor Daniel Ziembo will provide a study on the art of sketching visual notes. See how these sketches can be developed further in the studio and incorporated into more finished works.
