Oct. 9

Great Pumpkin Dodgeball Tournament: Registration deadline is Oct. 9, for Saturday, Oct. 18, Sport Center, 1141 W. Irving Park Road, Schaumburg. National Amateur Dodgeball Association hosts this tournament with multiple divisions for men, women, youth and co-rec teams. Gymnastics Superstars: 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, Allstate Arena, 6920 N. Mannheim Road, Rosemont. 2008 World Tour of Gymnastics Superstars. Shawn Johnson, Paul Hamm, Nastia Liukin and the women and men of Team USA are slated to perform. Tickets are $29.50-$79.50. Call (312) 559-1212.

Oct. 17

Conditioning camp: Register by Friday, Oct. 17, for session held 9-10 a.m. Sundays and 7:15-8:15 p.m. Wednesdays Nov. 2 to Dec. 14, Grayslake Park District Rec Center, 240 Commerce Drive, Grayslake. Designed to prepare athletes ages 10 and up for their season, focusing on speed, power, flexibility, agility and balance. Cost is $156 for Grayslake Park District residents, $195 for nonresidents. Girls basketball tryouts: 6:30 p.m. for fifth- and sixth-graders, 7:30 p.m. for seventh- and eighth-graders, Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 27 and 28, Woodland Middle School, 7000 Washington St., Gurnee. Nov. 8

Mustangs Shoot-A-Thon and Fall Festival: Noon to 8 p.m. Nov. 8, Mundelein High School, 1350 W. Hawley St., Mundelein. High school and junior high players will be shooting 200 shots. There will be contests and prizes including a 50/50 raffle, a pie throwing contest, and a kids vs. parents dodgeball tournament. Pizza and drinks will be available. A Wii game system will be raffled. Rolling Thunder Girls Volleyball Tryouts: Nov. 9. Tryouts for the Lake Zurich and Arlington Heights areas will be at Kits SportsCenter, 325 Surryse, Lake Zurich.
