Oct. 9

Jewelry sale: 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10 at 133 W. Lincoln Ave., Libertyville. The Libertyville High School Poms Squads are sponsoring the fundraiser jewelry sale featuring original designs by Kathy Horton and Marlene Regan. Hand-painted glassware by Angie Campe also will be featured.

Oct. 11

Used Book Sale: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, Cook Library Storage Facility at 204/206 Terrace Drive, Mundelein. Cook Library is downsizing its storage facility and needs to empty out the Friends of Library's used books. Barrington Area CROP Hunger Walk: 12:30 p.m. Oct. 19 at Lutheran Church of the Atonement, 909 E. Main St., at Eastern Avenue in Barrington. Pancake Breakfast: 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, Grayslake Fire Station, 160 Hawley St., Grayslake. The Exchange Club of Grayslake's Annual Pancake Breakfast. All-you-can-eat for $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and $3 for children ages 4-12, $3; under 3 eat free. Time Out Teddy will make an appearance, and there will be raffles. End Polio Now: Friday, Oct. 24, at various corners throughout the Lake Zurich area. Members of the Rotary Club of Lake Zurich will participate in the US $100 Million Challenge to End Polio Now by collecting donations. Grant gala: 6 p.m. Nov. 8 at Maravela's Banquet Hall in Fox Lake. Grant High School is hosting its 14th annual gala dinner dance gala, which helps raise funds to assist financially needy students, enhance classroom technology and provide scholarships for academically talented students. Condell Medical Center Gala: 6 p.m. to midnight, Saturday, Nov. 8, Westin Chicago North Shore, 601 N. Milwaukee Ave, Wheeling. "The Best Is Yet to Come" 17th Annual Benefit Gala. Tickets are $250. Super Jake Heroes Bash: 7 p.m. to midnight Saturday, Nov. 8, Hilton Northbrook, 2855 N. Milwaukee Ave. The fourth annual Super Jake and Friends Heroes Bash will benefit the Super Jake Foundation in honor of Jake Widman, who died in 2005 after his battle with neuroblastoma, a form of pediatric cancer. His family formed the nonprofit organization to fund and find a cure. Guests are invited to wear their favorite superhero costume in honor of Jake at this event. Clearbrook's Wonderland Of Lights: Drive through 1.6 miles of animated lights and displays at Arlington Park Racecourse, 2200 W. Euclid Ave., Arlington Heights. Entertainment books: The Mundelein Community Women's Club is selling the 2009 Entertainment books. Two for the price of one coupons are offered at local restaurants, Marriott Theatre, Ravinia and discounts at Dominick's, car washes, cleaners and sporting events.
