District to repair chillers
Huntley Unit District 158 will repair the chillers at Conley and Mackaben elementary schools. The chillers, which keep the buildings cool during warm months, broke when water in the machines froze during the winter. The district said in May the machines would be replaced, but the district's insurer said it will only cover repairs for both units. It will cost about $88,000 to repair both the chillers. The district's insurer, Gallagher Bassett Services, will pay for the repairs. The district will pay a $1,000 deductible for each unit. It would have cost almost $300,000 to replace both units. It is not clear how the chillers broke. The district now locks and tags the machines to prevent any unauthorized people from tampering with them.
